Minoxidil 5% for hereditary and patchy hair loss
TRIX Basic Minoxidil 5% is a medicine for external use on the scalp. The lotion contains 50 mg of minoxidil per ml and is used for androgenetic alopecia (hereditary hair loss) and alopecia areata (patchy hair loss).
In an alcohol solution, minoxidil passes through the skin barrier and dilates the blood vessels around the hair follicles. This stimulates the hair follicles and can significantly slow hair loss caused by androgenetic alopecia.
Download the full package leaflet and read it carefully before first use.
What hair profile is Minoxidil 5% intended for?
The lotion is used for androgenetic alopecia and alopecia areata. With androgenetic alopecia, hair thinning usually develops gradually, for example at the temples, hairline, crown or along the central parting. Alopecia areata may appear as one or more sharply defined bald patches. Have sudden, unexplained or rapidly increasing hair loss professionally assessed.
Composition
Each millilitre contains 50 mg of minoxidil. The solution also contains benzyl alcohol, 70% ethyl alcohol and rosemary oil.
| Ingredient | Per ml |
|---|---|
| Minoxidil | 50 mg (5%) |
| Solution | 50% benzyl alcohol and 50% 70% ethyl alcohol |
| Added | Rosemary oil |
Daily use
Apply 2 ml once daily to a dry scalp. Measure 2 ml using the supplied pipette, create one or more partings in the hair and spread the solution over the scalp. Wash your hands after applying it and allow the lotion to absorb for at least four hours before wetting or washing your hair.
Use only on the scalp. Avoid contact with the eyes, mucous membranes and damaged skin. Skip a missed dose and continue according to the usual schedule; do not use a double dose.
How long does one bottle last?
The bottle contains 100 ml. At the recommended dosage of 2 ml per day, this is sufficient for approximately 50 days. After opening, the lotion can be kept for a maximum of 70 days.
When can you expect to see an effect?
An initial effect may be expected from approximately six months after starting treatment. The maximum result may be achieved after two years. If there is no result after twelve months, consult your doctor or pharmacist before continuing. Stopping treatment may cause hair loss to recur.
Temporary additional hair loss may occur at the beginning. This usually disappears within a few weeks.
